The Branches of Zone Europe provided a Colour Party and attended the 95th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony of the Battle of the Somme and Beaumont-Hamel. Our piper Diederik De Jaeger piped the Colour Party, Legion Members and dignitaries into position at the monument. The ceremony was very well organized with a large turnout under sunny skies. In particular there was a large delegation of Newfoundlanders including government officials, veterans, and legionnaires. To our delight our Dominion President Comrade Pat was also in attendance. A wreath was laid on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion and our Colour Party was acknowledged by the organizing committee and the many dignitaries present. Following the ceremony at the reception we had the opportunity to chat and have a few photo sessions.

At the reception the Dominion President took the time to address our members and in brief she acknowledged that they are very much aware and appreciate the Legion Work we do here in Europe. Her kind words were well received by everyone present.
